Description
Skuld, whose name translates as “what is to come,” is the Norn of the future. She guards the knowledge of what has not yet been revealed—of the fate that is still taking shape and the burden of responsibility that the future brings. She records the course of coming events and sees their consequences before they become reality. Skuld embodies mystery, uncertainty, and the effects of choices made in the here and now. Her presence reminds us that present decisions are intertwined with future events, combining the inevitability of fate with the possibility of hope.
In Germania Mint’s vision, Skuld is depicted as an enigmatic figure shrouded in a hood and a long cape, concealing what remains beyond human understanding. Human skulls hang from her hips — a sign of transience and the price that must be paid for insight into the future. In her hand she holds a sharp knife with which she cuts the thread of life, deciding the fate of those who dare to look into her prophecies. Skuld stands at the roots of Yggdrasil, among the fallen and the still living, surrounded by numerous swords that foreshadow battles yet to be fought.
