Maleficent is a powerful witch and one of Disney’s most famous characters, best known as the villain in the Sleeping Beauty tale. In the classic 1959 version, she casts a curse on Princess Aurora, foretelling that she will stab herself with a spindle and fall into eternal sleep. The live-action films, starring Angelina Jolie, portrayed her more complex story – as a wronged but also loveable creature. The new versions emphasize her transformation from avenger to Aurora’s protector and protector. This has made Maleficent a symbol of strength, independence and inner transformation.

The reverse of the silver collector coin features a portrait of Maleficient in the classic Disney version with a raven on her shoulder accompanying her. The entire coin is given the appearance of an ornate mirror, in which our heroine is reflected. A small purple crystal was placed at the very bottom. On the obverse, the emblem of the issuing country, Niue, appears in the center, along with the denomination, year of issue and individual numbering. At the top is the inscription Elixir of Dreamless Sleep.
