Description
Endeavour is the ship featured on the second edition of the Nautical Ounce series. The ship made history thanks to a sailor named James Cook – it was aboard this ship that the famous sailor made his first voyage around the world reaching the coast of Australia and New Zealand. The ship served in the British Royal Navy until 1774, when it was withdrawn from service.
The silver Endeavour coin was released in 2018 as the second edition of the Nautical Ounce series. Its reverse features a rendering of the sailing ship, which we can admire from the stern. The ship is accompanied, as usual, by a wind rose – this time placed closer to the left edge of the reverse. The rim contains information about the year of issue, technical data of the coin and the name of the series. The obverse is decorated with the national emblem of the Republic of Rwanda – a traditional basket – and the country’s main crops – sorghum and coffee.
