Description
In Norse mythology, the battle between Loki and Heimdall is one of the key events foreshadowing Ragnarök. Loki, the cunning god of deception, and Heimdall, the guardian of Bifrost, meet in a direct clash that ends in their mutual death. Heimdall, with his extraordinary senses and strength, is able to detect even Loki’s subtlest actions. Loki, on the other hand, uses his cunning and transformative abilities to surprise his opponent. Their duel symbolizes the inevitable conflict between order and chaos in the Norse world. The death of both gods becomes the catalyst for the disintegration of the known order and the beginning of the end of the gods during Ragnarök.
Loki – the god of deceit, chaos and master of intrigue, as well as the father of mythical monsters – is depicted on the obverse of the coin in an expressive and dynamic scene. He is seen on a boat, heading inexorably towards his opponent, Heimdall, surrounded by flying arrows, which emphasizes the drama and tension of the clash. The reverse of the coin, on the other hand, shows a more symbolic motif: a boat still carrying the hero through the waves, and a two-headed eagle – the coat of arms of Germania Mint – which is a sign of prestige and minting mastery. The entire composition combines elements of Norse mythology with artistic craftsmanship, creating a unique collector’s item that captures both the drama and symbolism of the legend.
