Herbalist is the second figure in the unique Witchcraft series created by Germania Mint. The 2025 1 oz silver coin, Witchcraft: Herbalist, develops a series depicting extraordinary women descended from Germanic legends, gifted with secret wisdom and supernatural abilities. The Herbalist was regarded as a guardian of the hidden knowledge of the natural world – she knew the power of every plant and could prepare healing potions and magical infusions from them. In her healing practice, the heroine uses a wooden staff, a symbol of connection with natural energies and spiritual guidance. Her clothing is complemented by richly decorated jewellery, meant to enhance her powers and protect her from dangers. Appearing at Herbalist’s side is the mythical squirrel Ratatosk – a messenger of Yggdrasil, who conveys news between lands and supports Herbalist in communicating with the forces of nature.

The reverse of the coin, which is maintained in the characteristic Germania Mint style, full of details, depicts the true wealth of the natural world, from which the heroine draws. The background of the composition is filled with subtly rendered plant elements – leaves, herbs and forest vines – creating a harmonious setting and emphasising the mystical connection between the Herbalist and the surrounding environment. The central part of the reverse is dominated by a majestic double-headed eagle, the classic symbol of the mint, which in this version exudes strength and stability, alluding to ancient notions of guardians between worlds. Around the eagle are arranged runic signs, carefully chosen to carry messages of prosperity, health and protection. Their presence completes the composition, adding an extra magical dimension and making the reverse not only a decorative element, but also a symbolic map of the powers used by the Herbalist.
