In 1995 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Lady of the Century, the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue $20 Twenty Dollar Silver Proof Coin struck in solid fine .999 Silver and weighing five ounces of pure Silver on behalf of Tuvalu.
From 1923 when her royal life began as the newly married Duchess of York, the Queen Mother has spent a lifetime of extraordinary public service including sixteen full and dramatic years as Queen Consort to King George VI, fulfilling that awesome task with natural grace and charm. Indeed her and unwavering sense of duty have won her the affection and respect of countless millions across the world.
After the pomp and splendor of the Coronation ceremony in May 1937, official photographs were taken in Buckingham Palace of the King and Queen and their daughters, Princess Elizabeth and Margaret.
A formal group portrait of the Royal Family resplendent in their Coronation robes has been reproduced by Geoffrey Colley for the reverse of the Vanuatu coin.
