Description
The Niue coin: Czech Lion 2 ounces Silver 2023 is a coin that refers to the story of Bruncwik. After which the animal became the official symbol of the Czech country. The Bohemian lion was the symbol of the Přemyslid dynasty and can be found on the horse seal of Ladislaus Henry from 1203. The animal was placed in the emblem of the Czech Republic by Ottokar II.
The silver bullion coin was struck from pure Ag.999 bullion, weighing 2 troy ounces and with a diameter of 37 mm. The product has a mintage of only 4,500 pieces. This unique piece has been minted in gold and silver since 2017 and was produced by the Czech Mint, as well as being official legal tender in Niue. The entire series is guaranteed as to the legality, purity of the bullion and the origin of the metal.
The obverse of the coin depicts an eagle with linden branches, which is a combination of the bird of prey of St Wenceslas, both Moravian and Silesian. The obverse also features the Niue coat of arms and information on the year of mintage and the face value of the coin. On the reverse is depicted the head of a lion with the crown of St Wenceslas. The reverse bears the inscription “CESKA REPUBLIKA” and information about the weight and purity of the bullion. The designer of the reverse was Asamat Baltaev.
