Description

The Intaglio Mint, established in Colorado in 2010, is known for the manufacture of high-quality precious metals products celebrating history, literature and popular culture. This silver bullion release of the Vintage Horror Classic Series is a tribute to the Mummy. Where characters such as Frankenstein’s monster or Count Dracula are derived from literary sources, the Mummy was originally created for the film, inspired by the global excitement generated by the discovery of the tomb of the ancient Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun (King Tut) by world-famous archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922.

This 2021 dated Vintage Horror Classic Series Mummy Round is crafted from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
The non-denominated 3.10 mm thick round measures 39 mm in diameter.
The reverse features a high relief design.
The round features a beautifully minted Brilliant Uncirculated finish.

Magnificently Rendered Imagery

Obverse: The gruesome, skeletal figure of the Mummy appears on the obverse, with its arms crossed at its chest, wrapped with multiple layers of tattered linen ribbons. Two snakes are depicted coiling around the arms of the creature, symbolizing the supposed curse unleashed by the opening of King Tut’s tomb. The inscription “THE MUMMY” curves above.

Reverse: Centered in a circular inset on the reverse is the iconic column logo of the Intaglio Mint, with a map of the world in the background. A spiralling, radial pattern emanates from the logo, which is terminated by a stippled textured border containing the inscriptions “ONE TROY OUNCE” and “.999 FINE SILVER,” along with the 2021 date of issue in Roman numerals as “MMXXI.” This face of the round was struck in High Relief.
