Description
2011 Canadian Silver Maple Leaf – 1 oz .9999 Fine Silver
The Silver Maple Leaf is one of the most recognised bullion coins in the world. The Royal Canadian Mint has struck it every year since 1988. The coin is 99.99% pure silver, finer than most other bullion coins, which are usually 99.9%. Collectors and investors buy it because it’s pure, well made and easy to resell anywhere in the world.
Design
The reverse shows Walter Ott’s sugar maple leaf, Canada’s national symbol, on a smooth, mirror-like background. The obverse has Susanna Blunt’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, the 2011 date and the $5 face value.
A pre-2014 classic
The 2011 coin has the original plain-field design. In 2014 the Mint added radial lines and a security privy mark, so earlier dates like this one stand out in a stack. 2011 was also a historic year for silver: the price climbed to almost $50 an ounce in April.
